Help me decorate!

I really enjoy decorating. In each house that we have bought, we moved in and re-decorated EVERYTHING, regardless of the age of the house. It is just something that I enjoy. So, it is usually easy for me to walk in to any room and know just what I want to do with it. However, I recently hit a brick wall, so it is your turn to help...

Here's the dilemma: In the guest bath, the vanity has been replaced recently by the previous owners. When they replaced the vanity, obviously that meant new cabinets under the sink in wood grain....the original cabinets (like linen closet storage) are also in the bathroom and at some point through the years, were painted a tan color. So, we have two different tones of cabinets RIGHT NEXT TO EACHOTHER...strange. I have finally gotten over it enough to where I can sleep at night, BUT...

I do need to paint the old cabinets because completely ripping them out and replacing them is out of the question right now. So, in the meantime, we've painted the room a yellow-green. So, do we paint the cabinets white, matching some of the other trim (such as the baseboards), but adding an entire white section to the room? OR do we paint them the yellow-green, sort-of attempting to make them blend in with thw walls ...if that is possible.

What d' ya think???

I'm a picture person--I'm afraid I just can't help without seeing a picture of it. And then, I don't know if I could really help--I'd give my two cents though! Have a good day, Corrie.

A pic would help Corrie.
My first thought was that if the trim is already white I would paint the wood all white too. It always looks nice and clean when the wood is all white.
In one of our bathrooms I had the paint place mix the trim paint a shade lighter than the wall color and it works too.
Hope you're having a great Thursday!!!

Is the counter top white, too? Going by the picture in my head, based on your description, I vote for white. In semi-gloss, so it's easy to clean!
And, no, we aren't all unpacked yet, but we're getting there. :)

I am not the person to ask, but I would love to see before and after pics! Maybe you could come decorate my house!

How about white with yellow-green stripes? That should cover your whole color scheme. :)
I'm afraid I'm not one to ask about decorating. I do like color, but I just don't know when enough is enough.

I'm a visual person, so this is tough without a picture. In my head, as I read this, I saw WHITE! :o) Not sure if that's gonna be the right answer but it's what I saw.

I think white too. And then you can accent with white towels etc. But I agree with everyone else - show us a picture!

I'd have to vote for white, too but mostly because generally white paint seems to be more forgiving of bad painting (which would be a major consideration if I were painting, but probably not an issue for you if you already painted the walls yellow-green!).

White melamine! White melamine! I'd paint the linen closet and the cabinets in white melamine for sure.

I would paint the cabinets white and then try and find some knobs that go with the other colors in the room to blend it all together.

Good luck!

I love decorating too!

I'd go for white, personally...but as you can see, we're all clamoring for pictures! :)

Well, I'm a designer but sometimes I have issues at my own house. Of the two choices you gave, I'd go with white. But it also depends on what the top of the vanity base is made of. Personally I'd go with a more saturated color like a celedon green or something in the green family and some really cool door pulls from Restoration Hardware.

So, tell us what you decided! :^D
